Christ University, formerly known as Christ College, was an Autonomous institution since 2005. Christ College was reaccredited with an A+ by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) for quality education in 2005. It has also been recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) as an institution with “Potential for Excellence”. It was declared a Deemed to be University in the name and style of Christ University in 2008 under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Union Government of India vide Notification No. F. 9-34/2007-U.3 (A).
